Time Out Tuesday & An Important Update

It's time for your weekly dose of encouragement. I wrote my second post for my church's online Bible study this week. Our topic has been Hope for the World. This week I talk a little about what it means to say that you are a Christian. What do you do in your everyday life that allows others to see Jesus in you?

Take a 5 minute time out and head over to Hope Church's Online Study page to read this week's post  ---> Hope for the World: Say What?

I also hope that you will be joining me for the month of October, as I join the Write 31 Days team, and write about one topic every day for the entire month. Follow the link below to see what it is all about, and join me back here on October 1st for my first post. My topic is 31 Days of House Projects.

Many Blessings,

Time Out Tuesday

We made it through Monday, but it's still early in the week. Still gotta get through tomorrow to be half through the week. It's Tuesday. As Emily Freeman put it, "It's that ordinary, nothing special about it, day of the week, but still a great day for k.ingdom work."

I was recently asked by my church to write for their weekly online bible study. It is a blog format, which I am very familiar with and I had been praying for God to open up new opportunities for growth with my writing. So here I am, a writer/moderator for my church's online study group and I could not be more excited! I am so blessed to have this opportunity to do kingdom work.

I was on my way to work this morning when this song, Through All of It, by Colton Dixon came on K-love. I absolutely love this song and it kind of tied in to what I wrote about in my first post for the online study. I felt the nudge to somehow share this song, as it was such an encouragement to me this morning. Then I thought, why not share my post from Sunday as well?

And that's how Time Out Tuesday started. I don't know how long it will last, but I would love to encourage you through the week and it felt like Tuesday was the perfect day. You're through Monday but not to Wednesday, the halfway mark yet, and you might need a little positive encouragement to get there.

Here is the link to my online study post if you feel like reading. >> Hope for the World.
I hope you have a wonderful week!

Creating Your Nest: Part 4 & Giveaway

The crisp morning air. The smell of pumpkin muffins filling the entire house. The first of many  leaves changing from green to browns and yellows. It's almost here. Fall, the best time of year.

I have to be honest, I started decorating my house last week for fall, and it made me so happy. Part of the reason was because I knew I wouldn't really have time in the weeks to come, but part of it was that I just couldn't wait!!

This post is that last part of my series, Creating Your Nest. I hope that you have enjoyed reading these posts as much as I have enjoyed sharing my ideas with you. This last post will focus mainly on how I decorate. Once again, I was faced with the challenge of trying to explain how, because I never really thought about it before. What I learned, was that a lot of how I decorate, involves creating vignettes.

The word vignette has a few different meanings. The original definition being, a running ornament (as of vine leaves, tendrils, and grapes) put on or just before a title page or at the beginning or end of a chapter, but when dealing with interior design it is considered a small decorative arrangement of a variety of objects that are placed just so. Sometimes this grouping of items can tell a story, and other times they may just share a common theme. I love creating vignettes. It's arranging and rearranging at its finest, and the beauty of it, is that, it is constantly changing. You can add and remove objects as you please, depending on the season or maybe if a certain item just doesn't go. I have created a Pinterest page with all different kinds of vignettes. Check it out here --> Vignette Me.

I also found this awesome article that talks all about creating a vignette. The author does a great job explaining how to arrange a vignette. Follow the link to the article here --> The ABC's of Arranging Vignettes. I took a few photos of vignettes that I have created around my house.

These will be my colors for the fall. As you can see I have the same three base colors, grey, ivory, black/brown in mostly every room, and then I change/add other colors depending on the season.

I also love to decorate with baskets. I wrote an entire post all about it. You can read it here --> Decorating & Organizing with Baskets.

As a way to say thanks for following along during this series, I am doing a giveaway!! One person will win a 40 gift card to Home Goods plus a surprise handmade item!! Follow the directions below to enter! Happy decorating!

Many Blessings,

The End Is Near

Hey Hey Hey!! We are already in September, which means the end of Summer is approaching and Fall is almost here. I have a love/hate relationship with September! I love September, because it's my birthday month. Although, I'm not too sure that I really want to celebrate getting older. I also love September because it is the start of Fall which is my favorite month. September has the perfect weather too. On the other hand, I really dislike September because that means my Summer of being off is almost over, and I have to head back to work! Summer is my second favorite month! I love the beach and being off with my family!

Either way you look at it, there are good and bad things about this month, but that's how all things in life are, right? I am grateful for all the good that this Summer has brought, even the hard stuff, and I am so ready for what lies ahead in this upcoming season.

As I look ahead in September, I know that I am going to be super busy this month. It's back to work/school time and I will be super busy. What does this mean for my blog? Unfortunately, only one post this month. No worries though, because it's a gonna be a big one!! It will be the last post for the series, Creating Your Nest, with lots of decorating ideas and an awesome giveaway! Be sure to look for the post around the middle of the month!

I will be back in October for the Write 31 Days Challenge! I did this last year and enjoyed it so much! I can't wait for you to see my topic for the month. It will be a lot of hard work and writing, but I am up for the challenge!

I leave you with a word of encouragement as you move into this new month and season! Life is tough, but the hard stuff makes us who we are and strengthens our faith. Whatever life throws at you, never give up hope, and don't stop believing in His awesome plan for you!

Many blessings,
